LAST WEEKEND

It was a beautiful weekend last week. I was out at the camper with my two grand-daughters. On Saturday we had a good storm in the afternoon and on Sunday another BIG storm just as we we leaving to go home. But all in all it was still a great weekend with warm temperatures.

The girls got a chance to go on many golf cart rides, of course, which went to the the snack bar where they got swirl ice cream. Delaney likes green apple and Mia likes butterscotch. I believe that over the weekend before leaving they had five cones each. We enjoyed a camp fire on both, Friday and Saturday with a lot of jokes and laughing. The girls went to a bon-fire where they were burning many, many skids which produced high flames. This burning lasted about two hours. There was also a DJ there so everyone was dancing around the fire. The girls spent a lot of time fishing and were catching them right and left. This is a catch and release lake. They also got a little swimming in at the beach and I must say that the water was quite nice. But like everything else all good things must come to an end.

We are looking forward to this weekend, Memorial Day, the campground has a lot planned for everyone. Hope you have a fun and safe weekend.

THE NEW FAMILY.

When I returned to the camper last weekend I was greeted by a new family who had made a home above the light by the front patio door which is the way we get in and out of the camper. The new family was a mother robin sitting on eggs. Every time I went in or out she would fly away. I was going to move the nest to a tree but never got around to it.

This weekend when I returned I discovered that the eggs had hatched and there are three baby robins in the nest. I also noticed that dad had returned and both he and mom were busy bringing food to the hungry babies. Over a period of time mom got used to me and didn't fly away every time I went in or out. She just sat in the nest and watched me with a curious eye. I made my movements slow and talked in a gentle voice and maybe this relaxed her and made her trust me. The dad always makes a bunch of noise when I came near the nest to go in or out. The nest is located above the light which is about two feet from the door. I sit on the couch in the living room and watch to goings on and find pleasure in nature and my new family.
