WHO'S PAYING FOR LAY-A-WAYS?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if you had things a K Mart on lay-a-way and when you went to pick it up the clerk told you that it was all paid for. Darn right it would! That is exactly what is happening at K Mart stores in Michigan, Iowa, Indiana and Nebraska. This is not happening to everyone, but to people in need such as Melissa Atwood whose husband has had three heart attacks and of course can't work . Mrs. Atwood has had a difficult time caring for the husband, daughter who has medical issues and her elderly mother. That sounds like a real plate full. Others have also been chosen to receive full payment on their lay-a-way's.
Who are these angels paying these bills? Who knows. Just give them a silent GOD BLESS YOU and be thankful that there are people like them.

WHATS IN YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE?

When buying a real Christmas tree be careful.  ALWAYS bang the tree on the ground and look through isn't branches.
A family purchased a tree, brought it home and set it up in the living room. Lights were put on as well as the ornaments along with tinsel when a family member say movement within the branches. Upon further inspection it was found to be a snake. Thank goodness it was not poisonous.
According to the news this happened in two different states.
Be careful and stay safe.

DECORATING FOR THE SEASON

Now that Halloween and Thanksgiving are behind us, it is now time to set the house, inside and out, ablaze with beautiful colored lights, garland, ribbon and of course animated figures. This past weekend I drove around to see who was the first to put these things up to celebrate the coming of Christmas.
Some homes go all out, which I expect  shoot the electric bill sky high, while others are more conservative and do just enough decorating to show that they want to be part of the Christmas season. I saw the lights and figures of Santa, deer and other things associated with the season. The thing that I was sad not to see were any Nativity scenes reminding us that this is the birthday of Jesus.
For those of you who have not decorated yet, try to put this reminder in your decorations and remind the world what this season is all about.

GETTING CARRIED AWAY.

First they started by opening their stores the day after Thanksgiving at 6 am, then it went to 4 am, now this year it is 12 midnight and just the other day I hear that the stores will be open on Thanksgiving day. What about family values with everyone sitting down and enjoying a meal and being with each other. I bet the CEO's and Presidents and higher up's will be sitting down with their families. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could just forget about Christmas and buying gifts and just put Christ in the season as it used to be and should be and let these money hungry bastards eat their merchandise and have no money to count.
Folks, this country is going to pot because of big business because if they don't make 1 billion dollars over the Christmas season they had a bad year. They are saying that now and the shopping season hasn't even started.

SAVE YOUR HOUSE!

I thought I had heard on TV the Mr. Obama said something about the banks are to help people behind on the mortgages.
Situation is a friend of mine has missed three payments and in speaking with WELLS FARGO BANK was told they will not help and that he is going to lose the house. He has offered to make a payment and was told they would not accept just A payment unless he is up to date with the others. At least he is trying to pay something and the bank will not listen that his circuit breaker on his property tax kicks in January and this will reduce his payment substantually. It was their fault that the they did not inform him that he had to apply before a certain date. It's never the institutions fault, always the customer. My son, daughter and nephew had WELLS FARGO for their mortgage and they all had trouble with them.

BLACK FRIDAY ON SATURDAY?

Well did everyone get out and do their Christmas shoppin on the early BLACK FRIDAY shopping days? Wal-Mart doing a trial run and Target and other stores actually having their BLACK FRIDAY shopping days with another one the day after Thanksgiving. They are not thinking about the economy as it is, they just want to put people farther in debt so they can sit home on Christmas day and count their money.
What a sorry bunch of bastards they are. Does Christ even enter into the picture anymore

WHAT TO DO!!!!!!

What is there to do when the campgrond is closed? I guess I can do winter things like wash down my kitchen cabinets, shampoo my carpets, sell things on ebay, visit retail shops and go to the last of the garage sales. Before my wife was called to heaven, I didn't have a problem keeping occupied for she would always somewhere to go or something to do, so I just sat back and went with the flow.
I can look at it this way, one less week I have to wait before I can go back to the camper.

IT WAS A SAD DAY LAST SUNDAY.

Went to the camper last weekend for the last weekend of the season. Monday the park started turning off the water. Had a nice fire on Saturday which included good conversation and of course a lot of laughs.
Sunday brought rain and temperatures which were a little cooler. This was OK because it was time to shut everything down and say goodbye to friends which is what I did. Hopefully some of us will be able to get to geather during the winter for dinner and catch up on what is going on.
You can bet your bottom dollar that the countdown to April 15,2012 has begun when I will be back at the campground.

DANCING WITH THE STARS.

Dancing With The Stars is back but I don't think that is as good as last year. Those who can dance are being voted off and those who can't dance get to stay, how I don't know.
Chaz should have been voted off the first week. He has the grace of a beached whale and yet he keeps coming back. Like the star who got voted off this past tuesday said, "this is not a competition".
What GOOD dancer will be voted off next week

SEX IN CAR ADS????

I was watching a car ad the other day on tv. The pitch man went around the car tell of all the features on it and at the end he walked toward the back of the car and said "you can even throw in a little sex" and patted the card on it's lower trunk.
What is this telling people, especially young viewers. Buy one of our cars and have sex in it.
Not a good message in a world already having sex pushed down our throats with other ads and prgrams.
This car manufacturer by the way was HONDA. Come on guys lets think before we put something on tv

FOOTBALL ON SUNDAY

I was at the camper over the weekend and left early on Sunday so I could get home and watch the Bears game on TV. All of my hurrying was in vain. On the way home I stopped to get lunch which turned out to be White Castle hamburgers.
When I finally turned on the tv the game was already on and it was about three minutes into the first quarter. I watched the game and ate my lunch with high hopes of the Bears winning this game (not). Here comes the best part, the second quarter started and about half way through I fell alseep and woke up well after the game was over. So much for the Bears game.
Later that night I wanted to see Michael Vick perform his magic. Personally I don't think he should be playing. The fans greeted him with boo's and throwing of tomatos, they should have had him leading a few dogs on leashes. As it turned out he didn't work his magic and his team did loose and he got hurt. What a shame.

GRAND DAUGHTER SLIPS AND FALLS.

Children are always running or junping and that is because kids do those things.
Last Saturday Delaney was visiting her friend across the street. They had a full day of playing and it was getting late. Delaney had to be home at 8:30 and as kids do she waited til the last minute to head for home. It was dark and instead of calling her mother like she was told to do so mom could watch her as she crosses the street, Delaney ran across the street in the dark as fast as she could because she was afraid. She reached her driveway, tripped and took a terrible fall scraping her knee and elbow as well as hurting her big toe on the right foot and little finger on her left hand.
Monday brought a trip to the doctor for the finger and toe to see if they were broken and sure enough they were. Her left hand is in a cast and her right foot is in a walking cast. So much for swimming over this weekend.

ANOTHER HOT WEEKEND COMING UP

I can't wait for this weekend to arrive. HOT, HOT HOT oh boy. Will it ever get cooler?

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

IT'S STILL HOT!!!!!!!

The weatherpeople keep talking about cooler weather. Like on Monday they said that the high for the day would be 80 degrees but it passed 80 and kept on climbing into the 90

Thursday, July 21, 2011

IT'S HOT!!!!!!!

How is the weather by you? I can tell you by personal experience that it is really hot where I am and that is in northern Indiana. Everyone is telling me that it was just as hot last year but I don't remember, of course I don't remember and that is because I was in Texas where the temperature was 105 to 110.
There was a heat advisory here yesterday and another today because the temps are going to rise up into the upper 90 or even go into the lower 100's.
All I can say is that for the people who do not have AC lets pray that it cools down quickly.
Also remember to check on you neighbors especially if they are up in age.
Lets all pray for cooler weather.

HOW DO YOU ATTRACT ATTENTION?

It was a quiet evening at the apartment complex until the quiet was disturbed by the sound of gun shots. People don't like to hear this. Police were called and went to the apartment where the sound was heard. After knocking on the door there was another shot so police kicked the door in and entered the apartment. Searching the place police found the person responsible, that being a person hiding in a closet. His explanation was that he had a fish hook stuck in his butt and needed to get help so he fired his gun. It was never said why he was in the closed nor how he got the hook in his butt. On second thought, why didn't he leave the closet and call 911 for assistance. I guess we will never know.

WHAT'S A WEINER

What is a weiner? To most people it is a long meat filled delight which is topped with chile, or onions, catchup, relish or anything else you can think of to make it a delightfully tasting treat to eat at ball games, picnics or a quick dinner at home.

Then we have the Weiner in the political world that has made a weiner of himself. He put himself out on the Internet (stupid) and now is crying and asking forgiveness from the people of the United States and his wife who is with child. More and more of these people are coming forward to confess their evil ways and think all that they have to do is get before a mic and cry a little and say I want to apologize to my family and the people of the United States and by saying this thinks that everything is OK. NO IT IS NOT!!!. It is your duty to set a good example to your country and the world. He should be released from his position.

LAST WEEKEND

It was a beautiful weekend last week. I was out at the camper with my two grand-daughters. On Saturday we had a good storm in the afternoon and on Sunday another BIG storm just as we we leaving to go home. But all in all it was still a great weekend with warm temperatures.

The girls got a chance to go on many golf cart rides, of course, which went to the the snack bar where they got swirl ice cream. Delaney likes green apple and Mia likes butterscotch. I believe that over the weekend before leaving they had five cones each. We enjoyed a camp fire on both, Friday and Saturday with a lot of jokes and laughing. The girls went to a bon-fire where they were burning many, many skids which produced high flames. This burning lasted about two hours. There was also a DJ there so everyone was dancing around the fire. The girls spent a lot of time fishing and were catching them right and left. This is a catch and release lake. They also got a little swimming in at the beach and I must say that the water was quite nice. But like everything else all good things must come to an end.

We are looking forward to this weekend, Memorial Day, the campground has a lot planned for everyone. Hope you have a fun and safe weekend.

THE NEW FAMILY.

When I returned to the camper last weekend I was greeted by a new family who had made a home above the light by the front patio door which is the way we get in and out of the camper. The new family was a mother robin sitting on eggs. Every time I went in or out she would fly away. I was going to move the nest to a tree but never got around to it.

This weekend when I returned I discovered that the eggs had hatched and there are three baby robins in the nest. I also noticed that dad had returned and both he and mom were busy bringing food to the hungry babies. Over a period of time mom got used to me and didn't fly away every time I went in or out. She just sat in the nest and watched me with a curious eye. I made my movements slow and talked in a gentle voice and maybe this relaxed her and made her trust me. The dad always makes a bunch of noise when I came near the nest to go in or out. The nest is located above the light which is about two feet from the door. I sit on the couch in the living room and watch to goings on and find pleasure in nature and my new family.

GREETINGS OF THE DAY!

I just want to take a little time and wish everyone a very Happy Easter. Enjoy the day and be safe. God bless.

THE CAMPGROUND IS NOW OPEN.

When the water is turned on at the campground I get it into my head that winter is over. It gives me a good feeling that winter is gone even though we still get some cold weather. Recently is seems that it is raining every day.

My goal is to go to the camper the weekend after Easter. Ill go up on Friday afternoon and start getting it into shape and come back home on Sunday evening. I hope that some of my friends are there so we can have a camp fire, joke and talk. I know that I will be doing some walking around to get rid of the @$#%^& pounds I put on during the winter months. TOO MANY.

Easter Sunday I will be enjoying dinner with my family at Geno's In Dyer. They have a good buffet there which we all enjoy.

I hope that all of you have a wonderful Easter, and remember not only is it about the Easter Bunny but someone who is more important in our lives. Lets not forget him and his presence.
HAPPY EASTER.

HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY ARCH & JO

Back in 1961 two people fell in love and got married. That union, through thick and thin, has lasted 50 years and yesterday is when friends and family gathered to celebrate this occasion. It was a surprise party held at the Fairfield Inn in Lombard Illinois. I like gatherings like this because it is about the only time you get to see long lost relatives, I guess you could say it is like a family reunion. Over the years they brought into this world three wonderful sons who in turn gave them several grand and great-grand children. The food that was there was catered by Sweet Baby Ray's and was excellent as well as the deserts and cake made by daughter-in-law, Robyn, . I must have gained 10 pounds yesterday. After all was said and done, everyone went home with good memories of the day and full stomachs. Once again, Happy 50th Anniversary Arch and Jo.

WHO'S GOT THE MONEY?

The question is WHO'S GOT THE MONEY?. I'm talking about the folks who will advertise their wares on the final show of "The Oprah Winfrey Show". This show will air May 25,2011 with a full line-up of guests and entertainment. It will be, as some are saying, the show of the century. If corporate America wants to be a part of this spectacular it will cost them $1,000,000.00 to advertise their product for a whole 30 seconds. Isn't that insane? I could use some of that money to pay my bills and I KNOW millions of other people out there could use it too. Just make sure that you watch the show on May 25 to see who has all the money.

THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS.

Thank you Mike Golch, emzee and Lynne for your kind comments on my post "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A SPECIAL LADY". It makes my heart feel good that people agree with me for doing what I do and consider me odd. Thank you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A SPECIAL LADY.

On March 31, 1945 a wonderful person was born to grace our world and later on in years on October 9,1965 she graced mine by becoming my wife. Today I will buy her a card and her special flowers and present them to her. I will go to her grave and place the card and flowers there to honor her on this day. I know it sounds strange but it is something that I have been doing for the last five years and will continue to do until I can no longer do it. It is a bright sunny day and it should be on her special day. Happy birthday Andie, I love you.

FAVORITE FOODS

Throughout the day I look at many posts and many have a recipe for their favorite meal. I must admit that the ingredients sound mouthwatering and before I scroll down I have this vision of what the meal looks like. They sound good and I have tried some and was very pleased. There is only one thing that sometimes turns me away from a meal and that is the picture. Some foods do not translate into a good looking meal. The picture does not compliment the recipe. So at times it may be wise to list the ingredients and forgo the picture.

THANKS FOR THE COMMENT SARAH

In reference to the post about the old lady who shot a intruder I agree with you Sarah that it might be wise to take a martial arts class to protect yourself.
My daughter who lives in Texas took it one step further, I can't say that I agree with this, but her husband who will be leaving for Iraq soon went with her and bought a gun which is a pretty pink. They applied for a permit to carry a concealed weapon in her purse. There was a 10 hour class which they attended which taught everything about how to handle and understand what a gun is. Then there was a session on firing the gun. She scored 246 hits out of 250 with 186 hits needed to pass. Of course her score put her way above the passing point.
Like I said, I don't know if this good or bad and I can only hope that if the need ever arises she will use good judgement.

ON TV

With winter being here I have a lot of extra time to watch tv, which I do. I like to watch shows like Cake Boss. Auction shows, Pawn Stars and other shows of that nature.
I was watching Cake Boss last night and it had the segment on about Buddy Volastro's (the owner of Carlo's Bakery) wife giving birth to the fourth child. It was a boy. Congratulations!
Carlo's Bakery is in Hoboken NJ and the whole family works there. Sisters, brother-in-laws, cousins and nephews. One big happy family?. I find it to be very entertaining and sometime funny. It's amazing the cakes that they put together.
Pawn Stars, stars the old man, Rick and Rick's son (Corey) and their friend Chumly (the weird one). It's interesting to see the things that people will bring into the shop to either pawn or sell.
Very interesting program.
If you have a chance tune in and give it a look.

GOOD JOB LADY.

It was night time and as all decent citizens were sleeping a woman heard glass break somewhere in her home. Living alone, she had a gun because she didn't live in the best of neighborhoods.
She took her gun and went to investigate and low and behold she saw two figures in the darkness. At the same time she saw them and they saw her. No words were exchanged just a loud bang as she pulled the trigger on her gun. One intruder fell to the floor while the other ran like a goosed moose.
Police were called and the injured intruder was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later.
It was determined that no charges will be filed against the woman.
Job well done lady!!!

DON'T FEED THE DOG.

A man was walking his dog and as they passed another person, that person threw the dog a biscuit treat. The dogs owner, at that point, grabbed the biscuit thrower and slammed him up against a garage and a scuffle started. Police were called and the owner of the dog said he thought the biscuit thrower was trying to poison the dog.
Lesson learned, don't be kind to animals or better yet ask first if you can give the dog a treat.

SOMEONE GOT A NEW TOY FOR CHRISTMAS.

Everybody gets new things for Christmas, but someone in particular got a special toy, one that he can shoot his eye out with and that is a BB gun.
It was just about just about that time when the vandalism started. It happens day or night with car, van and school bus windows being shot out. It happens everywhere but mostly along rural stretches in Lake and Porter counties in Indiana with the most near 109th Avenue in Lake County.
Recently four windows were shot out at a car dealer.
One man who's window was shot out as he was driving recalls seeing a white pickup truck in the area. It is not known if the suspect hides in fields or shoots from a vehicle.
At any rate this person is a hazard to the community and any information concerning these situations should be reported to the Lake County Sheriff Department 219-755-3346 or the Merrillville police department 219-769-3722 ext 545.

THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.

At fourteen months a little girl by the name of Carrie Janik was diagnosed with cancer. She is now six and this Griffith, Indiana girl has gone through surgeries, chemo and radiation. Over the years Carrie fell in love with the TV show "iCarly", the hit show on Nickelodeon. When asked last year what would she want in the whole world, she said she wanted to meed iCarly.
A trip to the website and an explanation of the situation brought a phone call inviting Carrie to meet Miranda Cosgrove at the Rosemont Theatre where she was performing. Arrangements were made to attend the 4pm rehearsal and performance.
Carrie's health turned for the worse and she could not leave the hospital.
Later her health began to improve and at that point her mother e-mailed iCarly's producers and explained the situation and also asking if the singer could come to the hospital.
Miranda, a backup singer and a guitar player showed up at the hospital and sang three songs from the show to her at her bedside.
In my eyes that was a wonderful thing done by the iCarly people. It shows that Miranda is a down to earth person who has feelings for others.
God bless Carrie and Miranda and everyone who took part in this event to make a little girls wish come true.

WHAT DO YOU WANT ON YOUR TACO?

In the areas of Lake and Porter counties a man made his living going from bar to bar selling his homemade tacos and tamales. Being homemade he a good business for himself, but that was not the only thing he was selling. Along with your purchase you could also buy cocaine if you so desired. Do you know how many bars there are in Lake and Porter counties. A lot. I'm sure his business was very profitable.
What do you like on your taco?

DON'T MESS WITH THE DOG!

It was was a friendly gathering of three friends. A man (James) his girlfriend and a friend (David) were gathered in the living room of the girlfriend and David went into the kitchen to get a hog dog and a piece of bread. James supposedly went into the kitchen and told David to stop eating his food and to stop messing with anything in the kitchen that was his.
A altercation started between the two men resulting in the death of David with two deep lacerations to the throat and cheek.
James who is 74 pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and will be sentenced in February.
Always leave another girl and food alone.
